Nina
Established in 1953 in New York City, Nina was founded by a pair of brothers named Mike and Stanley Silverstein. The two Cuban emigrants sought out to change the world of footwear, and believe it or not, it all started out in a small loft on Prince Street. But wait, the story gets even better! The company was actually named after Stanley's first-born daughter, a little girl by the name of none other than Nina. Furthermore, the entire vision started with a single clog. This shoe was actually a re-imagining of the kind of clogs Mike and Stanley's father had created back home in Cuba. As the decade came to a close, the most fashionable of women could be seen sporting a pair Nina clogs on their feet. More specifically, Miss Universe contestants! Since then, Nina footwear has continued to grow, even extending to a line for kids. The best part of it all is that Nina has stayed true to its New York roots and can still be found in the city where it all started. |
