Christian Audigier, a Von Dutch brand designer has a genius idea in 2004. He decided to make clothes that had as designs or prints tattoos. Don Ed Hardy is a world renowned tattoo artist, possibly the most famous tattoo artist today. So who would be more perfect to inspire Audigier in his new project? And so the Ed Hardy brand was born, consisting of clothing, accessories and shoes. One of Ed Hardy's staple shoes is the canvas tennis shoes. A spin of the classic canvas sport shoe, they have unique tattoo designs on every shoe featuring some of Ed Hardy signature tattoos like animals and slogans. This spring and summer season, Ed Hardy brings his unique tattoo designs to not only a new tennis shoe collection, but also a flip flop collection. The tattoo prints were an instant hit among the young and celebrity communities. What started as a commercial innovative brand, now has fashion shoes during fashion week in New York, and is worn by top celebrities worldwide.
