Trend Alert: Bloggers Kick It With Isabel Marant

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

Isabel Marant

One blog post featuring Isabel Marant sneakers. Two blog posts featuring Isabel Marant sneakers. Three. Four…the features highlighting the infamous designer’s kicks are flowing in, so why not have DNA jump on board the sneaker train?!

Worn by both celebrities and bloggers, Isabel Marant is making her mark on the footwear community. Thirty-something Parisian Isabel Marant’s designs are a style not a trend – Spotting a gap in the market between the elaborate and inaccessible of the Paris catwalks, Marant caters to strong active young women. A mix of minimalist and bohemian, the designer makes clothing and accessories at affordable prices… that is if you consider $600 for invisible wedge sneakers “affordable”.

Trend Report: T-Strap Heels

Monday, January 9th, 2012

t-strap heels

Thanks to Who What Wear for inspiring today’s “T-Strap Trend” post — inspiring us and our readers to add dainty details to our closet. A flashback to classic footwear, the 1920′s, and dancer’s heels.

Mind your manners ladies because the t-strap is all about being prim and proper. Celebrities and bloggers alike go from rocker chic to perfect princess just by adding a pair of t-strap stilettos to their wardrobes. Take a cue from Badgley Mischka, Pelle Moda, Ivanka Trump, and Sacha London, all of whom know a thing or two about timely footwear elegance.

The Perfect Pair: Featuring BEBE

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

dna footwear

Take a minute and swoon over pastels will us will you? While we know it isn’t spring quite yet, we couldn’t resist the soothing hues of the pink, lilac, cream, and turquoise. We challenge you to find a more perfectly feminine ensemble!

The ‘perfect pair’ of BEBE Celia High Wedge Sandals may not be ‘perfect’ for those of us who currently live in New York but this is more of an early ode to Spring (or a daily outfit for warm weather Californians). The chunky pink knit sweater will rest so nicely atop the flowing multi-color maxi only to be topped with a leopard lilac and blush snood. We couldn’t stop there and went into pastel overload with the snakeskin clutch and pop of pink Marc Jacobs studs and turquoise raccoon tail.

Trend Alert: Bow-tiful

Monday, November 21st, 2011

dna footwear
If you’re an avid ELLE Magazine reader, then you know what’s hot for December: bows. From Stella McCartney to Valentino, designers are playing with feminine detailing in clothing and accessory styles.

This holiday season, ditch the glitter and sequins and soften your look with DNA Footwear. You may have a hard edge to you, leaning towards spikes and stud,s but we all know the holidays are about tenderness and these flats and heels (politely) scream daintiness.

Pair your bow-tiful new heels or flats with a less dainty outfit, meaning skip the matching bow dress AND bow handbag AND bow earrings…you get the point. It’s not about going overboard with the bows, instead make small details matter with a pop of femininity.

Trend Tuesday: Either/Or Featuring Dolce Vita

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

DNA Footwear

Same brand, same style, two different colors: Dolce Vita Jemma High Heel Bootie. Which one will you choose?

Either black or leopard, both of which pair well with distressed grey trousers, a green chunky kint, tan satchel, good luck gold earrings, and a statement necklace (or collar). Both pairs of Jemme High Heel Booties are versatile in their ability to mix and match with ANY (ok, MOST) of your fall wardrobe. The platform ankle booties are feminine yet edgy with their extra “chunky” heel and suede outer, making them a go-to for fashion bloggers, stylists, socialites, and even the occasional celebrity.

Born in 2001, Dolce Vita shoes have been setting trends all over America and the brand continues to awe consumers with their on-point trendy styles. Dolce Vita  is a favorite brand of Beyoncé and Rhianna, and Dolce Vita designs have been featured in magazines such as Lucky, Harper’s Bazaar, People StyleWatch, InStyle, Life and Style, InTouch, and The New York Post’s Page Six.

You too can dress like Beyoncé and Rhianna with the Dolce Vita Jemmas in Black or Leopard.

That’s Fierce: Leopard Print

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

dna footwear

Take it from the queen of leopard, Snooki who has make the trend part of her signature style. If Jersey Shore isn’t your guilty pleasure, take it from DNA Footwear that this trend is FIERCE.

Leopard is one trend that you have to be extremely cautious with because you can easily transition from gorgeous to gaudy in seconds. The exotic print adds flair to any outfit but should not be paired with another leopard print piece or another animal print in the same look.

According to US Weekly, “Leopard may be considered a wardrobe basic in the Kardashian family (the sisters and mom Kris have been known to rock the print from head to toe), but the freshest way to wear it in Hollywood right now is on your feet.”

Back in the day Peg Bundy was the only one adventurous enough for this trend, but today you can take a walk on the wild side too! Remember, a little leopard goes a long way.

Trend Alert: Prepster Chic

Friday, November 4th, 2011

dna footwear

From polo matches to brunch at the club, you’ll be the most stylish prepster among the elite. The preppy look might be trendy but it is also a transitional classic that has withstood the ever-changing fashion world. Beginning in the 1970′s with a peak in the 80′s, the prepster chic look is back with a twist on the conventional oxford, transforming an original flat to a heeled bootie.

A new take on a men’s shoe, the heeled oxford stylizes your tweed blazer and pleated skirt. From the lace-up oxford bootie to the platform oxford bootie, each provide a level of sophistication unmatched by traditional high heels.

This trend is not only being watched by the DNA Footwear team but has also been recently highlighted by J. Crew, Fashion Pulse Daily, The Find, and more! You can’t go wrong with an easy to walk in & even easier to style, oxford bootie.

Don’t forget your pearl earrings to match!

Trend Tuesday: Hiking Boots

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

hiking boots

If you follow footwear trends, you know that athletic shoes
are among the top selling in the industry. While this LA native won’t be the
first to pack a sack and hike a hill, I know there are people who
appreciate the great outdoors more so than I ever could. So, pack those bags
(are they called bags or backpacks…I need to brush up on my hiking jargon)
and tie up those boots. Prepare yourself for the fresh air, shining sun,
and…bugs?

While it is difficult for me to admit, hiking is not all
about fashion (shocking I know) and is instead about comfort, support, and
protection. When choosing the right hiking boot you must note the conditions
you will be exposed to; is it a rainy climate, snowing, or easy-to-navigate terrain?
Hiking boots have to be durable, versatile, and weatherproof — musts for the
outdoor adventurist!

You won’t be “over the hill” with these men,
women, AND kid’s boots:

Trend Tuesday: Spike Up Your Life

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

DNA Footwear

These days, spikes aren’t just for punks, goths, and dog collars. They’re on all the runways and the most daring of fashionistas. From necklaces, to jackets, to purses, and of course, shoes!

Starting at the top are the daring, spike-alicious “Lorissa” by Sam Edelman. Not only are the heels of these shoes bursting with fierce studs and spikes but they also have ferocious faux snake finish. Can you say predatory? These shoes are only for the women who are ready to walk on the majorly wild side.

The “Nevada” by Zigi NY might seem like a shoe that says “I’m stuck up” since you tower above everyone around you and you have a prickly exterior. In reality you’re just channeling your inner Lady Gaga and everybody loves Lady Gaga! So just remember if you look dangerous, smile a lot and be extra nice!

The Jeffrey Campbell “Elegant” seems like the kind of loafer that Elvis would wear if he was living today. These rocking shoes are heavy metal and gender bending, buy a pair for yourself or your boyfriend or else he might end up trying to steal them when you’re not looking!
