Halloween Special: Peter Pan Style

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

haloween costume

All you need is trust, a little bit of pixie dust… AND the El Naturalista Dome N765 Mid Heel Mid Calf Boot.

Welcome back to our Halloween Special; this time we are taking a stab at Peter Pan Style with olive green mid calf heeled boots. These fantasy-inspired boots walk an extremely thin line between ready-to-wear and costume (And…if you’re in Williamsburg there is no differentiating the two).

There is no doubt that these boots will stand out when matched with trouser shorts, a peasant top, a gold “collar”, and feather embellished fedora. It is important that when you search for the perfect outfit to match these boots, you stay away from “costume” attire, keeping your clothing choices as chic as possible to balance out the boots. Translation: Stay away from the tights and tunic.

The Perfect Pair: Featuring Jeffrey Campbell

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

‘Tis the season to color block with black and orange — The DNA Footwear team and Jeffrey Campbell are getting into the holiday spirit.

The ever-so-alluring Jeffrey Campbell Night Walk High Platform confuses and entices onlookers with its “phantom” heel. The rounded edges call for geometric hard lines to balance out the platform curvature. Hence today’s ‘Perfect Pair’ post, all of which is available at DSW, Net-a-Porter, Endless, Zappos, Far Fetch, Saks, and Bloomingdales.

{Outfit 1}

Off to a day in the city, an industry event, or a gallery opening? No matter where the day or night takes you, pair your Night Walk High Platforms with an orange fitted blazer, blue trousers, a tucked-in black long-sleeve shirt, and geometric bag and earrings. Warning: This outfit is only for the most adventurous fashion enthusiast.

{Outfit 2}

A little less over the top than outfit 1, outfit 2 again follows our orange motif with a slinky dress, geometric necklace and earrings, and woven clutch. While this outfit isn’t as over-the-top as the first, it is subtly attention-grabbing.

Halloween Special: Ice Queen, Featuring Jeffrey Campbell

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

Jeffrey campbell sonia

Welcome to the Halloween Special Part IV, featuring the Jeffrey Campbell Sonia – AKA “The Ice Skate Wedge”.

You dreamed of gracefully gliding across the ice, clad in a tutu, body suit, tights, and tight tucked bun. Now, 15 years later, it is your chance to relive that childhood fantasy with the help of DNA Footwear and Jeffrey Campbell. Pair your ‘Sonia High Wedge Booties’ with a black tutu, chic tweed leotard jacket, sheer black tights, and feminine bow hair clips.

While you’re no longer that little girl who took her first tumble on the rink in front of your childhood crush, your “ice queen” costume should still resemble that of a figure skater… if Anna Dello Russo was a figure skater that is. The ‘Sonia Wedge Booties’ matched with the leotard jacket add a chic flair to a childhood dream.

Halloween Special: SSSSSexy

Monday, October 24th, 2011

Can’t imaging Halloween without a high fashion costume? Jeffrey Campbell is your go-to Halloween footwear designer. While spending $200 on a Halloween shoe may seem steep, there is no reason you can’t wear the Jeffrey Campbell Rockaways  all year long.

For a truly sssssexy costume, pair your Rockaway booties with black snake SKINnies (subtle pants because nobody wants to be in snake style overload), a peach blouse, snakeskin belt and clutch, and the ever-so-seductive snake necklace.

There is a fine line between couture and costume — a line which Jeffrey Campbell so carefully teeter totters between.

Halloween Special: Get Spotted, Featuring Kelsi Dagger

Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

For part II of the ‘Halloween Special’ DNA Footwear will transform you into a fierce leopard so you get spotted (by that special someone).

While there are endless brands that feature the leopard print trend, Kelsi Dagger’s Huette High Wedge Pony Hair Bootie does not overwhelm the stylista with solid print, balancing it with black. Pair the wedge bootie with basic black leggings (to keep you warm on chilly October nights), a leopard print dress, a fur purse (to carry your candy in of course), and accessorize with ears and tail.

With leopard print as your palette, it is important that you don’t overdo the print, sticking with black accents to keep you ‘costume chic’.

Halloween Special: Ride ‘Em Cowgirl, Featuring Jeffrey Campbell

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

Halloween Costume

Boo-tify yourself with DNA Footwear’s Halloween Special — a week long costume extravaganza!

With the help of DNA Footwear and Jeffrey Campbell you can ride like a cowgirl with the best of them. Halloween is a special time for style savvy shoppers and this year, Jeffrey Campbell is dazzling customers with the Giddy Stud High Wedge Mid Calf Boot .

The Giddy Stud Boot is a play on the typical cowboy boot, stylized with leather and studs. Why trick or treat or party in boring flat boots when you can add a little oomph with a wedge?!

Disclaimer: We do not advise riding a horse in these boots as it could be extremely difficult and not to mention, dangerous!
