Whether appropriate or not, Miley Cyrus’ new fashion sense is all the rage in Hollywood. The Disney Channel graduate has done a style 180, and gone from sweet-girl-next-door to rocker-sexy. With provocative performance wardrobes and choreography choices, it looks like America’s Sweetheart is all grown up! All judgments aside, she’s got some pretty awesome style in line with this season’s hottest retro-punk-rock trends. One of the coolest Miley pieces are these gorgeous open toe booties she has sported during her concerts, or even while running errands.

Everybody needs a pair of shoes they can wear anytime, any season, with anything. In other words, everybody needs a pair of Keds. Keds have been making our lives easier for decades, and recently debuted really stylish collections that allow one to incorporate fashion sense into the timeless shoe. All there really needs to be said about Keds is that they are hot this season – they have been seen sported by celebrities like Kristin Cavallari and Mischa Barton, both of whom are rarely spotted wearing anything other than designer heels!

The best part of fall is undoubtedly the fashion. Sure, sandals and shorts are fun, but as the summer season comes to a close, we all crave those boots and knits sweaters as we wait on the edge of our seats to see what will come in the fall and winter. A major trend last winter was the over-the-knee boots. This provocative boot style became a staple of all fall and winter runway collections of last year. Like every great trend, the Over-the-knee boot craze is sticking around for another year. Every designer makes their own pair of these illustrious over-the-knee high heel boot featuring different elements ranging from different materials like suede or leather to featuring outrageous details like zippers and buckles, often in rich, seductive colors.

There are so many fabulous things about this boot, it’s hard to decide where to start. Even the shoe trend experts seem a little stumped by these: sometimes they call them open-toed booties, sometimes high-heeled gladiator sandals. But whatever you call them, they are definitely one of the biggest new looks around.
The trends we’ve been seeing lately are all about adding a sexy, tough-girl vibe to an otherwise feminine and flirty outfit. These gladiator-style sandals definitely have a hard edge—they remind one of the leather armor that the gladiators really wore. And because of this, it’s so fun and refreshing to see what the celebs are pairing them with: slinky dresses that emphasize curves, bright, girly colors, and ultra-femme details.
 Image courtesy intheircloset.com Check out celebs Cassie, Charlize Theron, Heidi Montag, and Lauren London—they’re all wearing Givenchy’s open-toe booties (or high-heeled gladiator sandals). We’re loving the fitted shapes of the dresses on Cassie and Charlize, and think that the gladiator sandals make the finished outfits sexy in a new and different way. Lauren’s short hemline is kept classy with the neutral colors, but given an interesting edge with the sandals. And while we can’t say we’re loving Heidi’s strange pink grandma nightie—seriously, what’s up with that?—what she did get right was giving her flirty lace and girly colors a hard edge with those adorable gold open-toed booties.

The feet of celebs everywhere are sporting one of the biggest—and most original—trends of the season: zipper details. Zipper have lately gone from something you try to conceal to something you show off. The platform heels that have been so popular for a few seasons now are currently showing off their zippers front and center.  Check out these pics of Leighton Meester revealing her tough edge in these zipper-detail shoes.
 Courtesy of inhercloset.com If zippers aren’t being used in their usual way, albeit in a newly prominent place, they’re being used as embellishments. Inside-out zippers are used to form flowers and other intricate designs that take you feet from ho-hum to wow.
This zipper trend is all part of the newest fad to add a little tough, rocker edge to an otherwise girly ensemble. Pair some zippered heels with a romantic, flowery skirt for an image that’s girly with an edge. For the office, pair some flats with zipper details with a suit for a sexy, exciting look that’s appropriate for the office but fun enough for drinks afterwards.
