Asics
Asics is one of the leading brands in sport apparel in America. Asics was started in Japan by a Kihachiro Onitsuka in 1949 under a different name. In the '70s Onitsuka decided to name his company Asics as an acronym for a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano" which means "A sound mind in a sound body" – representing his belief that exercising should be a way of living a healthier, happier life. It was then that his brand was brought to the United States and met with great success. By 2010 Asics had received numerous accolades, including the highest rating in 2009 from Tennis Magazine, Editor's Choice Award from Runner's World and Top Honors from Runner's World at the 2009 Shoe Summit. Onitsuka's vision of introducing fitness and health into everyday life has remained the central focus, not only for their running shoes, but also for their sport casual shoes. With bright colors and hip silhouettes, Asics makes shoes that can go from the gym to the club and still look great. Yet no matter how stylish they are, they remain comfy and hold true to their aphorism, "a sound mind in a sound body." |
